A cheeky poster or image ad from Singapore adult retailer U4Ria with a naughty/nice double meaning.

I also note that everyone in the ads and on the U4Ria website is caucasian. Does that say more about their clientele or the image they're trying to project?

Hmmm... this could also be driven (intended) as an ad for "this man didn't have his shot of Illy this morning", or, "you wouldn't feel so bad if you were wearing North Face gear.", or "you'd never mistake a Ford for some other piece of shit car in the snow", though I doubt you'd want to produce an ad for Ford in a snow storm in these dark and stormy days.

This is a great capture of just how crappy winter can be.

I forgot about this commercial, but I laughed pretty hard the first time I saw it when it aired on TV. I happened to stumbled upon it on YouTube the other day and thought I'd share.

Snickers have had some pretty funny ad campaigns, but this is one of my favourites. Enjoy!

Brad Pitt Softbank Japan Cell Phone Ad (in yellow)

Wes Anderson directs Brad Pitt in a yellow suit in a TV ad for Japanese cell phone company Softbank. The ad is an homage to the 1953 French film Les Vacances de Monseieur Hulot.

And of course it ends with a white dog.

I found these in a back alley of Vancouver this week behind the old steel mill by Ontario and 2nd. Yes I sometimes randomly walk down back alley's. Maybe not the safest thing to do, but it's the best way to find cool stuff like this.

I really like this piece. A lot. I think it's very creative and witty.

My personal interpretation is that the artist sees Obama is a manufactured "Black president." The first image selection looks very Caucasian, with the darker 'pieces' added over time. Before you know it, you have built Obama. I particularly love the last Obama frame. He gets his charming smile and all the white has been trimmed back.

What's your take on this? I'm really happy Obama won, but even I can appreciate this piece of art for what it is. I think it's a bold and interesting statement.

OK, it's not fair to pick on ads that have a budget of $3.50, but this one was so pathetic, it had to be posted. Sure, the sound doesn't sync up, but that's the least of this spot's problems.

Yeah. Wow.

In the background, I can practically see the teleprompter the women are reading from. And the middle-aged white man who wrote the ad.

OK, so maybe it's difficult to advertise a job fair when your CEO has Jungle Fever and has forced you to cast porn actresses. But it shouldn't be that hard to create a sensible PSA against "Drunk Driving". Yet so many of these ads are hilarious. Many of the ones in this series make you want to kill the person talking. I've posted my favorite before but I also particularly enjoy this one, mainly because I expect the driver to pull over and beat the woman and then the screen to go black and display the following text: "No matter how annoying someone is, you can't beat them. Ever. Violence is always wrong."

Another awful thing is how much this seems a bad audition monologue or one side of a cell phone conversation ("I love you! - NO! NO! How dare you say that! What?! That's terrible!") - the woman seems to be reacting to nothing in particular... You'd think the arm, er, man could say something to move this thing along. Did they not have the budget to pay the guy to speak?

(Note, after I found this ad, I continued to Google PSAs (I'm a sucker for punishment, clearly) and found someone who also thought the above was an abomination and had some pretty amusing observations.)

But once again, right after, I encountered relativity. In comparison to the next ad, the above one is a coherent, linear work, worthy of a CLIO.

I challenge you to be able to utter anything after viewing this ad besides "WTF?!!!" or "I wish I saw that on LSD":

Rare Exporters Inc. Father Christmas Hunting and Training Video

Outstanding production values from Woodpecker Film. The cast are perfect and I like the dark tone to the usually saccharine Santa.

This is all the worst-reputed characteristics of the ad agency rolled into one heartchilling video. Since it seems to resonate with so many, I can only assume it has a sliver of truth at its heart.
